RALEIGH (March 11, 2022) – The 2.1 billion dollars NC State University raised for its endowment don’t help just NC State – they help North Carolina’s entire economy.
“They have a tremendous impact on the economy,” Chancellor Randy Woodson says in the accompanying video, “by providing the critical workforce for the economy, by funding the research that is necessary to generate the intellectual property to keep our economy growing, and adding purchasing power to the University, which has a direct impact on the economy.”
Woodson notes that NC State and other UNC System campuses haven’t raised tuition for six years.
“The spending of the University has largely increased – and as a result, the economic impact of NC State has largely increased – for two reasons: For research funding, and for spending on the endowment,” Woodson says. “And that has a trickle effect on the economy.”
