WINSTON-SALEM – Auto dealer Don Flow is a graduate of the University of Virginia. And he stepped down this year as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Wake Forest University.
But Flow doesn’t mince words in the accompanying video about the importance of the University of North Carolina system.
“The University of North Carolina is the most important institution in the state,” Flow says. “It is the distinctive difference between North Carolina and all of the rest of the Southern states.”
Flow outlines the importance of the Connect NC bond package that voters will decide in March, noting that it will mean more than $250 million in projects to the Triad alone.
More than 90 percent of the nurses and technicians at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center were trained in the UNC system, he says. And Wake Forest hopes to expand the physician assistant program it offers at Appalachian State University.
“Those are the jobs of the future,” he says. “This is a great opportunity for us to be investing in the future.”
